The Story of Stone House Farm

Welcome to the Stone House Farm! We are Steve and Kaye Berman.  We have been talking and musing about moving to the farm for many years and now the time has come. Here you will learn all about why we are moving from Boulder, CO to Marion, KS in the fall of 2019, the trials and tribulations of a major life-style change at middle-age and witness first-hand how it all comes together.

We wanted a place to document and share these changes – to our lifestyle, the farmhouse and land – so this website and blog were born. Please follow along on our adventure!

Stone House Updates

The Stone House was built in 1888 and needs a little love. We will be renovating the home and surrounding property.  Please check back to see our progress or sign up to receive update emails!

Why Marion Kansas?

Marion is known as ‘the town between two lakes’ and Steve considered purchasing a lake house for his retirement….until he came across the small farm and beautiful old Stone House that sat on the land. The great soil for growing vegetables, flowers and fruit, the small town charm and nice people of Marion, the low cost of living were all very appealing to him so the farm was purchased and the dreams of his retirement as a gentleman farmer began!

A few things we do know for sure.  We won’t miss the traffic, high prices and busy-ness of city life but we will miss those beautiful Rocky Mountains and all of our neighbors and friends. We are excited for a new chapter in the Flint Hills of Kansas!
